St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, taught that God is among us, found in all things. As a Jesuit-founded organization, International Samaritan recognizes God’s presence in all we serve, echoing a hallmark of Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit educational philosophy – respect for the dignity of human beings as unique creations of God.

We are blessed to work closely with many Jesuit high schools and universities; in encountering victims of poverty first hand on our Service Learning Trips, their students develop compassion for the poor, helping foster a Christian identity obliging each to work for societal change and protect human dignity.

In speaking out against poverty and injustice, El Salvador’s recently beatified Bishop Óscar Romero preached, “The most profound social revolution is the serious, supernatural, interior reform of a Christian.”

International Samaritan shares the goal of Bishop Romero and the mission of Jesuit education, that we answer the Gospel’s call to love one another.  Please continue your support, so that together we can serve the victims of severe poverty Ad majorem Dei Gloriam, for the greater glory of God.
