Father LehaneInternational Samaritan is pleased to welcome Father Brian Lehane, S.J., to our Board of Directors. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Fr. Lehane first met Fr. Vettese during his senior year at St. Ignatius High School, where Fr. Vettese was his psychology teacher. Fr. Lehane went on to attend Cleveland State University, and then taught for five years at an urban Catholic school before entering the Jesuits.
While with the Jesuits, Fr. Lehane studied at the University of Detroit-Mercy, Loyola University in New Orleans, and the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California. He has taught English and theology at Walsh Jesuit High School near Akron, Ohio; St. John’s Jesuit High School in Toledo, Ohio; and is currently teaching at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy, where his work includes the positions of Superior of the Jesuit Community and Mission Director, in which he helps to form new faculty, staff and board members in the Ignatian spirituality and educational principles.
Fr. Lehane brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to our Board of Directors. He says of International Samaritan, “In our Jesuit documents and Church teachings, we hear grand ideals expressed. But too often we scratch our heads, trying to figure out how to put those ideals into action. International Samaritan does just that. The lives of many poor people are changed forever because of the work of this organization, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
